In House Film Screening of Kripa at IFA

 

 
Gurung film "Kripa" was screened at IFA under Regular In House Film Screening Program at IFA .The film is directed by Maotse Gurung which is 80 minutes long. This film was screened during NIIFF 2007 and awarded as second Best Film Award 2007 in the festival.17 viewers were present during screening.

Synopsis of the film:

 

 

Kripa is going to her natal village with her aunt to meet her father during her school vacation. When her aunt left her there with her deaf father, she became lonely. She had hard time interacting with her father. She could not fina any person or friend who she likes. In this course, she met a Lahure (British/Indian Gurkha Army). He knew about city and also understands the difficulty of Kripa. So, he describes Kripa about the village life. Then she starts to blend in village life and makes friendship\ip with Neha and Thagu. She also saw Neha’s mother being beaten up for being witch on the command of local shaman. She love the gift of gunyocholo from her father, Ode, which made her sentimental. She did not like the behavior of shaman.

Later on she founds the real relationship between her and her father Ode. She felt kindness towards her father because he found her and took care of her as if she was his own daughter. From Lahure, she knowe about her biological parents and society. She determines that she would look after her father Ode and raise awarenss by becoming social worker, when she grew up.

The screening of Kripa was followed by interaction which was facilitated by Dipendra Lama, Film journalist.
