Limbu film Chesung screened
On 18 July 2011, Monday, IFA had screened a limbu film "Chesung" which is based on a struggle to restore the traditional rights on the land. Literateur - Dr. Krishna Bhattachan was also present during the screening. 20 participants were directly benefitted by In house film screening program at IFA.
The film "Chesung" was produced in 2007 which is 98 minutes long. It was screened during Nepal International Indigenous Film Festival(NIIFF) 2008 and bagged Critics Award in NIIFF 2008. Other than this award, Chesung has got Public Choice Award during NIIFF Extension 2008 and National Award from Nepal Film Development Board 2064 B.S(Nepali Year).
Director Mausam Imbung Limbu had shared his views about the film and clarified message given by film.
The screening of the film was followed by the interaction with the filmmaker.
Every participant claimed that they liked the content and positive message about the kipat system of Limbu ethnic group. Dr. Krishna Bhattachan commented that more research on Kipat System could have added the worth to the film and it might help the filmmakers to meet with the experts while developing the scripts not to miss the necessary elements required for the story.
